Chennai International Airport · Chennai, India

Chennai International (MAA) keeps its lounges simple: Travel Club operates a lounge in each of the three terminals — the domestic Terminal 1, the international Terminal 2 and Terminal 4 — and Terminal 4 also has the Air India Maharajah Lounge. Access runs on DragonPass, SkyTeam, oneworld and pay-in, with no Priority Pass-only halls.

About MAA

Chennai International Airport (MAA) keeps its lounge scene compact and easy to read. Travel Club runs a lounge in each of the airport's three terminals — Travel Club Lounge 1 in the domestic Terminal 1, the Travel Club Lounge in the new international Terminal 2, and the TFS Travel Club Lounge in Terminal 4 — and Terminal 4 also holds the Air India Maharajah Lounge, the airport's only airline-branded option. Access runs on DragonPass and airline alliance status rather than Priority Pass: DragonPass opens the Terminal 1 and Terminal 4 Travel Club lounges, SkyTeam Elite Plus reaches Terminal 4, oneworld covers Terminal 2, and Air India and Star Alliance passengers use the Maharajah Lounge. Most halls also accept walk-in pay-in entry, so you can still get in without status or a membership. Because the lounges don't connect airside, always pick the one in the terminal you're flying from.

How we compile this guide

Sourced, never sponsored.

This guide is compiled from airline, alliance and lounge-operator sources plus published access rules from Priority Pass and DragonPass — we haven't independently visited every Chennai International Airport lounge yet. Nothing here is a paid placement, and the guide is updated as lounges open, close, renovate or change access policies. Read more about how we verify lounge data.

Best Overall

TFS Travel Club Lounge

The TFS Travel Club Lounge in Terminal 4 has the widest access of any MAA lounge — SkyTeam Elite Plus status and DragonPass both get you in, plus a walk-in pay rate — and it's the most polished of the Travel Club halls, with warm South Indian decor, a cold and hot buffet and a TV room.

Best Airline Lounge

Air India Maharajah Lounge

The Air India Maharajah Lounge in Terminal 4 is the only airline-branded option at Chennai, serving Air India elite and premium-cabin passengers and Star Alliance partners, with pay-in entry also available when you're not flying eligible.

Best for Domestic Departures

Travel Club Lounge 1 (Domestic Terminal)

Travel Club Lounge 1 is the domestic option, airside in Terminal 1 on the lounge level near Gate 6. It runs on DragonPass and serves a hot and cold spread — the natural choice before a domestic flight out of Chennai.

Best for oneworld Flyers

Travel Club Lounge - New Terminal 2

The Travel Club Lounge in the new Terminal 2 is the oneworld-access option at MAA, open through the evening and overnight bank with complimentary house wine, beer and liquor alongside the buffet — handy for late international departures.

T1

Terminal 1 (Domestic)

T4

Access guide

How to get into lounges at MAA.

Chennai's lounges are reached mainly through DragonPass and airline alliance status, with a pay-in option at most halls if you don't hold either. DragonPass opens the Travel Club lounges in Terminals 1 and 4, SkyTeam Elite Plus reaches the Terminal 4 Travel Club, oneworld covers the Terminal 2 lounge, and Air India and Star Alliance passengers use the Maharajah Lounge. Always match the lounge to the terminal you're flying from.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is the most useful single membership at MAA — it's accepted at the TFS Travel Club Lounge in Terminal 4 and Travel Club Lounge 1 in the domestic Terminal 1. Check the per-lounge page for the terminal you're departing from.

Business & First class ticket

A business- or first-class ticket on an eligible carrier gets you into the matching lounge — Business or First on a SkyTeam carrier for Terminal 4's Travel Club, a oneworld Business Class ticket for Terminal 2, or a premium Air India fare for the Maharajah Lounge.

Walk-in / pay-in entry

Most Chennai lounges sell entry at the door for travellers without status or membership, including the Air India Maharajah Lounge and the Travel Club halls. Paying per visit is the simplest route if you don't hold DragonPass or qualifying airline status.

Insider tips

Know before you go.

01

Match the lounge to your terminal

  • Chennai's lounges don't connect airside — pick the one in the terminal you're flying from before you clear security.
  • Domestic flights use Terminal 1 (Travel Club Lounge 1); international flights use Terminal 2 or Terminal 4.
  • If you're connecting domestic-to-international you'll change terminals, so don't count on a single lounge for both legs.
02

DragonPass leads here

  • DragonPass covers the most MAA lounges — the Terminal 4 TFS Travel Club and the domestic Travel Club Lounge 1.
  • There's no Priority Pass-only lounge listed at Chennai, so don't rely on Priority Pass alone for entry.
  • Most halls are Travel Club-operated, so the membership matters more than which airline you're flying.
03

Mind the opening hours

  • The Terminal 2 Travel Club Lounge opens for the evening and overnight bank (about 17:00–04:00), not around the clock — check before an early or daytime flight.
  • The Terminal 1 and Terminal 4 Travel Club lounges run all day, which suits Chennai's spread of departure times.
  • Stays are capped at two to three hours depending on the lounge, so time your arrival to your boarding.
04

Pay-in is a reliable fallback

  • Most Chennai lounges accept walk-in pay-in entry, so you can still get in without status or DragonPass.
  • The Air India Maharajah Lounge takes pay-in customers alongside its airline passengers.
  • Booking or confirming entry ahead is worth it during the busy late-evening international bank.
