About DTW

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is one of Delta Air Lines' largest hubs, and its lounges split cleanly across two terminals that don't connect airside. The McNamara Terminal is the SkyTeam home, with the Delta Sky Club on Concourse A and a 24-hour Minute Suites reachable on Priority Pass. The Warren C. Evans Terminal, formerly the North Terminal, handles the airport's other carriers and holds two further lounges — the Lufthansa Business Lounge, open to Priority Pass and oneworld passengers, and the Lufthansa Lounge for Star Alliance flyers. Because Detroit is a Delta hub, the Delta Sky Club is the lounge most travellers will use, while Priority Pass covers the Minute Suites and the Lufthansa Business Lounge. The key thing to remember at DTW is the terminal split: choose a lounge in the terminal you're flying from before you clear security, because there's no way to move between them airside.

How we compile this guide

Sourced, never sponsored.

This guide is compiled from airline, alliance and lounge-operator sources plus published access rules from Priority Pass and DragonPass — we haven't independently visited every Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport lounge yet. Nothing here is a paid placement, and the guide is updated as lounges open, close, renovate or change access policies. Read more about how we verify lounge data.

Access guide

How to get into lounges at DTW.

Detroit is a Delta hub, so the Delta Sky Club on the SkyTeam side covers the most travellers — but access at DTW splits cleanly by terminal. In the McNamara Terminal, SkyTeam status or a Delta premium ticket opens the Sky Club, and Priority Pass gets you the 24-hour Minute Suites. In the Warren C. Evans Terminal, Priority Pass, oneworld and Star Alliance status reach the two lounges there. Always check which terminal your lounge is in before clearing security, as the two don't connect airside.

Airline status

SkyTeam status & Delta ticket

SkyTeam Elite Plus status or a Delta Business or First Class ticket gets you into the Delta Sky Club in the McNamara Terminal. As Detroit is a Delta hub, this is the route that covers the most passengers at DTW.

Insider tips

Know before you go.

01

Mind the two terminals

  • DTW's McNamara and Warren C. Evans terminals are separate buildings with no airside connection — pick a lounge in the terminal you're flying from before clearing security.
  • Almost all flights use one terminal or the other; Delta and SkyTeam run from McNamara, most other carriers from the Evans Terminal.
  • If you're connecting between the two terminals, you'll leave security and re-clear, so allow extra time.
02

Delta hub advantage

  • Detroit is a major Delta hub, so the Delta Sky Club in the McNamara Terminal is the lounge most DTW passengers will actually use.
  • The McNamara concourses connect airside via the tram and the underground Light Tunnel, so you can reach the Sky Club from gates across A, B and C.
  • The Sky Club lays out a complimentary cold buffet and bar with tarmac views — a solid option before a Delta departure.
03

Long layovers and overnights

  • Minute Suites in the McNamara Terminal is open 24 hours and bookable on Priority Pass — private soundproof rooms with a daybed for sleeping between flights.
  • It's the best DTW option for an overnight connection or a long daytime layover when you want to lie down rather than sit in a buffet lounge.
  • The Delta Sky Club also has showers, useful for freshening up before or after a long-haul leg.
04

Access by alliance

  • Priority Pass covers the Minute Suites (McNamara) and the Lufthansa Business Lounge (Evans) — confirm which terminal matches your flight.
  • oneworld Sapphire passengers can use the Lufthansa Business Lounge, and Star Alliance Gold the Lufthansa Lounge, both in the Evans Terminal.
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus and Delta premium-cabin flyers use the Delta Sky Club on the McNamara side.
