About HAM

Hamburg Airport (HAM) is a compact, single-building airport, and all five of its lounges sit airside after security. The central Airport Plaza — the connector between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 — holds the independent AIRPORT LOUNGE, the most flexible option at HAM with DragonPass, Priority Pass, SkyTeam and Star Alliance access, plus the Hamburg Airport Lounge, the only one to admit oneworld passengers. Over by the Terminal 2 A-gates, Lufthansa runs three lounges on Level 2: the Business Lounge, the Senator Lounge and a separate Lufthansa Lounge, serving Star Alliance Gold and business-class travellers. If you don't hold airline status, the Plaza's AIRPORT LOUNGE on DragonPass or Priority Pass is your way in; otherwise pick the lounge that matches your alliance and is closest to your gate. Hamburg's lounges open early for the morning bank and close in the evening rather than running around the clock.

How we compile this guide

Sourced, never sponsored.

This guide is compiled from airline, alliance and lounge-operator sources plus published access rules from Priority Pass and DragonPass — we haven't independently visited every Hamburg Airport lounge yet. Nothing here is a paid placement, and the guide is updated as lounges open, close, renovate or change access policies. Read more about how we verify lounge data.

Where we'd actually go.

Best Overall

Airport Lounge

The AIRPORT LOUNGE in the central Airport Plaza has the widest access at HAM — DragonPass, Priority Pass, SkyTeam and Star Alliance all get you in. With a quiet zone, a small business area, a TV room and shower facilities, it's the most flexible option and works for travellers without Lufthansa status.

Best for Business Class

Lufthansa Business Lounge

The Lufthansa Business Lounge near the Terminal 2 A-gates serves Star Alliance Gold and business-class passengers, with floor-to-ceiling tarmac views, a hot and cold buffet and a full bar. The most consistent branded choice if you're flying Lufthansa or a Star Alliance partner.

Best for Senator & Gold

Lufthansa Senator Lounge

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge is the higher-tier Lufthansa space at Terminal 2, aimed at Senator and Star Alliance Gold members. Calmer Scandinavian-styled seating, tarmac views and a hot and cold buffet make it the quieter step up from the Business Lounge.

Best for oneworld

Hamburg Airport Lounge

The Hamburg Airport Lounge on the 3rd floor of the Airport Plaza is the only HAM lounge that admits oneworld Sapphire passengers, alongside Star Alliance status. Floor-to-ceiling windows, showers and a workstation area make it a solid airside option for oneworld and Star Alliance flyers.

PLAZA

Airport Plaza (central)

Hamburg is a single connected building, and the central Airport Plaza sits between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 above the airside security area. Two lounges are here: the independent AIRPORT LOUNGE (DragonPass, Priority Pass, SkyTeam and Star Alliance) and the Hamburg Airport Lounge on the 3rd floor (Star Alliance and oneworld). Both are airside, reached after passport and security checks.

  • Central location between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, airside after security
  • AIRPORT LOUNGE takes DragonPass and Priority Pass — the widest access at HAM
  • The Hamburg Airport Lounge is the only one admitting oneworld passengers
  • Both Plaza lounges offer showers for long-haul or early starts
T2

Terminal 2 (A-gates)

Terminal 2 handles Lufthansa and several Star Alliance carriers, and Lufthansa runs three lounges here on Level 2, reached via the lift and stairs by gate A20. The Business Lounge and Senator Lounge cover Star Alliance Gold and business-class passengers, while the separate Lufthansa Lounge also admits SkyTeam Elite Plus. All are airside after security.

  • Lufthansa's HAM base — three lounges clustered near gate A20 on Level 2
  • Business and Senator lounges serve Star Alliance Gold and business class
  • The Lufthansa Lounge additionally admits SkyTeam Elite Plus passengers
  • Reached by lift and stairs from the A-gates; all airside
Access guide

How to get into lounges at HAM.

Hamburg leans towards airline and lounge-membership access rather than walk-in day passes. The independent AIRPORT LOUNGE in the central Plaza is the key membership option, taking DragonPass and Priority Pass, while the three Lufthansa lounges at Terminal 2 and the Hamburg Airport Lounge run on Star Alliance and oneworld status or a premium-cabin ticket. Every lounge is airside, so clear security first.

Airline status

Star Alliance status & business class

Star Alliance Gold members and business-class passengers reach every HAM lounge except those limited to other programmes. Lufthansa's Business, Senator and main lounges at Terminal 2, plus both Airport Plaza lounges, all admit Star Alliance Gold or a business-class ticket.

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at the independent AIRPORT LOUNGE in the central Airport Plaza — the most flexible way in at Hamburg if you don't hold airline status. Check the per-lounge page before you travel.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass also opens the AIRPORT LOUNGE in the Airport Plaza. It's the single contract lounge at HAM, so Priority Pass coverage is limited to this one airside space — confirm capacity at busy times.

Insider tips

Know before you go.

01

One building, two clusters

  • Hamburg is a single connected terminal — the Airport Plaza in the middle joins Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
  • The two Plaza lounges are central; the three Lufthansa lounges sit near the Terminal 2 A-gates on Level 2.
  • All five lounges are airside, so clear passport control and security before heading up to them.
02

Pick by your programme

  • Carrying DragonPass or Priority Pass? The AIRPORT LOUNGE in the Plaza is your option — it's the only contract lounge here.
  • Flying Lufthansa or another Star Alliance carrier? The Terminal 2 lounges are closest to your gate.
  • Holding oneworld Sapphire? The Hamburg Airport Lounge in the Plaza is the only HAM lounge that admits you.
03

Hours run daytime, not 24h

  • HAM lounges open early for the morning bank but close in the evening — the AIRPORT LOUNGE runs roughly 05:30 to 21:00.
  • If you have a late departure, check your lounge's closing time before relying on it.
  • Early starts are well covered: lounges open from around 05:00–05:30 for the first wave of flights.
04

Showers and quiet zones

  • Both Airport Plaza lounges have shower facilities — useful after a long-haul arrival or before an early flight.
  • The AIRPORT LOUNGE has a dedicated quiet area and a separate TV room if you want to unwind or focus.
  • The Lufthansa Business and Senator lounges have tarmac-view seating split into dining, working and relaxing zones.
