About KAN

Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (KAN) is northern Nigeria's busiest airport, and its lounge scene is small but concentrated entirely in the International Terminal. There are three lounges we track. Two of them — PTS Lounge and Lounge One — sit airside after passport control and security, and open on DragonPass and Priority Pass, plus Star Alliance and oneworld status respectively. The third, the VIP Lounge near Gate 2, serves SkyTeam Elite Plus members and premium-cabin passengers. If you're flying internationally out of Kano, a DragonPass or Priority Pass membership is the most reliable way in; otherwise your airline alliance decides which lounge you'll use. Lounge One stands out for cooked-to-order meals and rare private sleep pods, while PTS Lounge offers a hot buffet, prayer room and runway view.

How we compile this guide

Sourced, never sponsored.

This guide is compiled from airline, alliance and lounge-operator sources plus published access rules from Priority Pass and DragonPass — we haven't independently visited every Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport lounge yet. Nothing here is a paid placement, and the guide is updated as lounges open, close, renovate or change access policies. Read more about how we verify lounge data.

Access guide

How to get into lounges at KAN.

Kano is a DragonPass and Priority Pass airport for most travellers — those two memberships open both airside contract lounges, PTS Lounge and Lounge One, in the International Terminal. Alliance status also helps: PTS takes Star Alliance, Lounge One takes oneworld, and the VIP Lounge serves SkyTeam. Check which lounge matches your access before you clear security.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at both of Kano's airside International Terminal lounges, PTS Lounge and Lounge One. It's the most broadly useful membership here, opening more doors at KAN than any single airline alliance.

Lounge membership

Priority Pass

Priority Pass works at the same two airside lounges, PTS Lounge and Lounge One, in the International Terminal. If you carry both DragonPass and Priority Pass, either gets you into these two lounges at Kano.

Priority Pass
Airline status

Airline & alliance lounges

Alliance status reaches the lounges directly: Star Alliance Gold gets into PTS Lounge, oneworld Sapphire into Lounge One, and SkyTeam Elite Plus into the VIP Lounge. Access follows your tier and the alliance each lounge is aligned with.

Insider tips

Know before you go.

01

Lead with DragonPass or Priority Pass

  • Both airside International Terminal lounges, PTS Lounge and Lounge One, take DragonPass and Priority Pass — either membership covers the pair.
  • If you only carry one of the two, you still reach the same two lounges at Kano, so there's no need to hold both.
02

Match the lounge to your alliance

  • PTS Lounge is the Star Alliance option, Lounge One the oneworld option, and the VIP Lounge serves SkyTeam — pick the one aligned with your carrier.
  • All three are in the International Terminal, so your alliance matters more than which building you're in.
03

Clear the checkpoint first

  • PTS Lounge and Lounge One are airside, after passport control and security — head through immigration before looking for them.
  • PTS Lounge is on level 3 and Lounge One on level 2 of the International Terminal, so follow the floor signs once you're airside.
04

Use what each lounge does well

  • Lounge One has private sleep pods and cooked-to-order meals — the best pick if you have a long wait or want to rest.
  • Both PTS Lounge and Lounge One have a prayer room and a runway view; PTS caps stays at three hours and Lounge One at four.
