About MXP

Milan Malpensa (MXP) is northern Italy's main international gateway, and almost all of its lounges sit in Terminal 1, with a single option over in the low-cost Terminal 2. The backbone is the set of SEA-run "Classic" lounges — Monteverdi by the Schengen A gates, Pergolesi and the Montale Exclusive Lounge in the non-Schengen B area, and Alda Merini in Terminal 2 — which accept DragonPass, Priority Pass and pay-in guests. Around them sit the airline and premium lounges: two Lufthansa lounges for Star Alliance, a dedicated Emirates Lounge, and the pay-per-visit Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge (the former Casa Alitalia space) in the extra-Schengen pier. For most travellers a DragonPass or Priority Pass membership is the most reliable way in; premium-cabin passengers can use their airline's lounge, and the Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge sells walk-in entry. Because Terminal 1 splits into Schengen and non-Schengen piers — and Terminal 2 is a separate building — always match your lounge to the terminal and pier you're flying from.

How we compile this guide

Sourced, never sponsored.

This guide is compiled from airline, alliance and lounge-operator sources plus published access rules from Priority Pass and DragonPass — we haven't independently visited every Milan–Malpensa Airport lounge yet. Nothing here is a paid placement, and the guide is updated as lounges open, close, renovate or change access policies. Read more about how we verify lounge data.

Best lounges at Milan Malpensa Airport

Best Overall

Monteverdi Classic Lounge

The Monteverdi Classic Lounge in Terminal 1's Schengen area is the most flexible way in at Malpensa — it takes DragonPass, Priority Pass and Star Alliance status, and welcomes pay-in guests too. Remodelled in 2023 and sitting close to the A gates, it suits the widest range of travellers without needing a specific airline or card.

Best for Pay-Per-Visit

Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge

The Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge is Malpensa's pay-per-visit standout — the former Casa Alitalia space in Terminal 1's extra-Schengen pier, kept with its elegant design, a generous hot buffet, full bar and shower rooms. You pay at the door, so you don't need status or a membership to get in.

Best Airline Lounge

The Emirates Lounge

The Emirates Lounge is the flagship branded experience at MXP, seating 158 guests across 929 square metres with leather armchairs, mahogany furniture and direct boarding. It serves Emirates First and Business Class passengers and eligible Skywards members flying out of Malpensa.

Best for Star Alliance

Lufthansa Lounge

The Lufthansa Lounge in Terminal 1A's Schengen Area A was remodelled in 2018 to Lufthansa's newer design, and serves Star Alliance premium-cabin passengers and eligible status holders — the most consistent Star Alliance option at Malpensa.

Milan Malpensa Airport lounges by terminal

T1

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is Malpensa's main building and holds almost all of its lounges, spread across the Schengen and non-Schengen (extra-Schengen) piers. The SEA-run Classic lounges (Monteverdi by the A gates, Pergolesi by the B gates) take DragonPass, Priority Pass and pay-in guests; the Montale Exclusive Lounge covers Priority Pass in the satellite B area; the Lufthansa lounges serve Star Alliance; and the Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge and Emirates Lounge sit in the extra-Schengen pier. All are airside after security.

  • —Largest cluster of MXP lounges, all airside after security
  • —Monteverdi, Pergolesi and Montale Exclusive cover DragonPass / Priority Pass
  • —Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge sells pay-per-visit entry (extra-Schengen)
  • —Lufthansa serves Star Alliance; Emirates has its own dedicated lounge
T2

Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is Malpensa's low-cost terminal, home to easyJet and a smaller share of traffic. Lounge coverage is thin here — the Alda Merini Classic Lounge is the only option, sitting airside near Gate D22 and reachable on DragonPass, Priority Pass or as a pay-in guest. Terminal 2 is a separate building from Terminal 1, so pick your lounge to match the terminal you're flying from.

  • —Far fewer lounges than Terminal 1 — one option here
  • —Alda Merini Classic Lounge is airside near Gate D22
  • —Reachable on DragonPass, Priority Pass or pay-in
  • —Separate building from Terminal 1 — match your departure terminal
Access guide

How to get lounge access at Milan Malpensa Airport

Malpensa leans heavily on DragonPass and Priority Pass — the SEA-run Classic lounges in both terminals accept both memberships and also welcome pay-in guests, which makes them the most reliable way in for most travellers. Airline access is narrower: Lufthansa and Star Alliance partners use the Lufthansa lounges, Emirates has its own dedicated lounge, and the Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge sells walk-in entry. Always check whether your lounge is in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and on the Schengen or non-Schengen pier, before clearing security.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at the SEA Classic lounges — Monteverdi and Pergolesi in Terminal 1 and Alda Merini in Terminal 2. It's one of the two most useful memberships at Malpensa, covering the same core lounges as Priority Pass.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass works at the Monteverdi, Pergolesi and Alda Merini Classic lounges and at the Montale Exclusive Lounge in Terminal 1's satellite B area. Check the per-lounge page to confirm which terminal and pier your lounge is on.

Walk-in day pass

The Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge sells pay-per-visit entry at the door in Terminal 1's extra-Schengen pier, and the SEA Classic lounges welcome pay-in guests too — so you can pay per visit without any membership or status.

Airline status

Airline & alliance lounges

Lufthansa runs lounges in Terminal 1 (the Schengen Area A Lufthansa Lounge and a Business Lounge) for Star Alliance premium-cabin passengers and eligible status holders. The Monteverdi Classic Lounge also admits Star Alliance, SkyTeam and oneworld passengers alongside its membership access.

Business & First class ticket

A premium-cabin ticket gets you into your airline's lounge directly — Emirates First and Business Class passengers use the dedicated Emirates Lounge, and Lufthansa and Star Alliance premium flyers use the Lufthansa lounges. The simplest route if you're flying business or first out of Malpensa.

Insider tips

Milan Malpensa Airport lounge tips

01

Terminal 1 vs Terminal 2

  • —Almost every Malpensa lounge is in Terminal 1 — Terminal 2 has just the Alda Merini Classic Lounge, near Gate D22.
  • —The two terminals are separate buildings linked by a free shuttle, so pick a lounge in the terminal you're flying from before clearing security.
  • —Terminal 2 is the low-cost terminal (easyJet and others); most full-service and long-haul flights leave from Terminal 1.
02

Schengen vs non-Schengen

  • —Terminal 1 splits into Schengen and non-Schengen (extra-Schengen) piers — your lounge sits on one side, so check which before you go through.
  • —Monteverdi is by the Schengen A gates; Pergolesi, Montale Exclusive, Gae Aulenti Premium and Emirates are in the non-Schengen/extra-Schengen B area.
  • —If you're flying within the Schengen zone you won't reach the non-Schengen lounges, and vice versa.
03

Lead with a lounge membership

  • —DragonPass and Priority Pass cover the same core SEA Classic lounges, so either membership is a reliable way in at Malpensa.
  • —The Classic lounges also welcome pay-in guests, so you can buy entry even without a membership.
  • —If the membership lounges are full, the Gae Aulenti Premium Lounge is a pay-per-visit fallback in Terminal 1.
04

Airline-specific access

  • —Emirates passengers in First or Business Class use the dedicated Emirates Lounge, which offers direct boarding.
  • —Lufthansa and Star Alliance premium passengers have the Lufthansa lounges in Terminal 1.
  • —The Monteverdi Classic Lounge also admits Star Alliance, SkyTeam and oneworld passengers, useful if your airline doesn't run its own lounge here.
