Editor's picks are independent — never paid placements — and this guide is updated as lounges open, close, renovate or change access policies.

Insider tips

Know before you go.

01

Timing & Crowds

  • T3 international peaks 11pm–2am for long-haul departures to Europe and the US, plus 7am–9am for inbound transit. Air China First Class Lounge is calmer pre-peak (8pm–10pm).
  • T2 peaks vary by carrier — China Eastern V2 is busiest mornings 6am–9am (MU domestic). Off-peak afternoons are genuinely calm.
  • Cathay Pacific Lounge tracks CX departure timing — typically 5pm and 11pm. Off-peak the lounge is quiet enough to enjoy the tea house properly.
02

Maximising Priority Pass at PEK

  • BGS Premier Lounge (T2) is the only PP-direct option at PEK — most lounges accept DragonPass instead. If your card carries DragonPass, use the T2/T3 CIP network for far broader coverage.
  • Comfort Zone (T2 and T3E) are PP-eligible spas — present your PP card for complimentary treatments (often a 15-minute massage or foot bath).
  • Some walk-in lounges accept PP at off-peak hours — confirm at reception before paying.
03

Terminal Navigation

  • T1 has been closed since 2019. T2 and T3 are connected airside via the Inter-Terminal Train (IAT). Allow 15–20 minutes between T2 and T3 including walks.
  • T3 is split into T3-C (domestic), T3-D, and T3-E (long-haul international). T3-E is the furthest — APM ride from the main concourse, 5–8 minutes.
  • Many SkyTeam operations (AF, KL, DL, KE) have moved to Beijing Daxing (PKX, 70km south). Verify which Beijing airport your flight uses — easy to confuse.
04

Chinese Cuisine in Lounges

  • Air China First Class Lounge has the strongest Chinese kitchen at PEK — Beijing zhajiangmian (fried sauce noodles), Peking duck rotation, dim sum. Best Chinese food in any PEK lounge.
  • Cathay Pacific Lounge's noodle bar focuses on Cantonese dishes (wonton noodles, dan dan) — a Cantonese counterpoint to Air China's Beijing focus.
  • DragonPass CIP lounges usually have hot Chinese mains — fried rice, mapo tofu, soup of the day. The Trvok A1 Lounge at T3 has the strongest CIP kitchen.
FAQ

Frequently asked, frequently answered.

PEK has 20 canonical lounges across Terminal 2 (10 lounges — SkyTeam home + DragonPass cluster) and Terminal 3 (10 lounges — international + Air China Star Alliance hub). Terminal 1 has been closed since 2019.

Yes, but coverage is narrower than DragonPass. BGS Premier Lounge at T2 is the primary PP-direct option. Comfort Zone (T2 and T3E) are PP-eligible spas. Several walk-in lounges accept PP at off-peak hours. If your card has DragonPass, you'll have far broader coverage — most CIP lounges accept it.

Air China First Class Lounge at T3 (3F near Gate E20) is the home carrier's flagship — Air China First Class, Phoenix Miles Platinum, or Star Alliance Gold on Air China long-haul international. Cathay Pacific Lounge reopened August 2025 with a tea house and noodle bar — the oneworld flagship and most recently refurbished lounge at PEK.

T3 handles most international carriers plus Air China. T2 handles China Eastern, Hainan Airlines, some Air China operations, and a few foreign carriers. T1 has been closed since 2019. Many SkyTeam carriers (AF, KL, DL, KE) moved to Beijing Daxing (PKX) — verify which Beijing airport before security.

Yes, at several. Trvok CIP International (T2), Airport Easy Lounge (T2 Domestic), and walk-in tiers of multiple CIPs sell day passes around 300–400 RMB (~US$42–56). Joy Rest at T3E is a sleep-pod hotel with hourly rates. Airline lounges (Air China, Cathay, Emirates, China Eastern, Hainan) do NOT sell day passes.

Air China operates four lounges at PEK: First Class Lounge (T3 3F near E20 — top tier, Air China First / Phoenix Platinum / Star Gold on CA long-haul), First/Business Class Lounge (T3 4F C31-32 — Business tier), Domestic First and Business Class Lounge (T3C 2F — domestic flights), plus the multi-alliance Air China Business Class Lounge at T2 (International — SkyTeam contract reciprocity too).

Terminal 1 has been closed for renovation since 2019. All operations have moved to T2, T3, or to Beijing Daxing (PKX). T1 is not expected to reopen in its previous configuration.

They're different airports 70km apart. PEK (this airport) is Air China's primary hub and most foreign carrier hub. Beijing Daxing (PKX) is the newer airport hosting many SkyTeam carriers and some Star carriers. Don't confuse them — check your ticket carefully. Inter-airport transfers take 90+ minutes by road.
