Sobre MLE

Velana International Airport (MLE), on the island of Hulhulé just across the water from Malé, is the main gateway to the Maldives and the start of nearly every resort holiday in the country. We track 6 lounges across its terminals. The international passenger terminal carries the largest share — the LEELI, Koveli and Maamahi alliance lounges airside, plus the Moonimaa and Neeri lounges covering landside and pay-in access. The landside Moonimaa Lounge, just outside the main entrance, is accessible for both international and domestic flights. Because so many visitors connect onward to a resort by floatplane, the Seaplane Terminal has its own Huvandhumaa Lounge. Access here runs primarily on Priority Pass and DragonPass, which between them open the independent network lounges; oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance status reach the airline-aligned lounges, and a couple of lounges sell walk-in entry so you can pay per visit. Check whether your lounge is landside or airside, and which terminal it's in, before you commit.

Onde nós realmente iríamos.

Best Overall

Moonimaa Lounge

The Moonimaa Lounge is the most accessible option at MLE — it takes both DragonPass and Priority Pass, so the widest range of travellers can get in without airline status. It sits landside in the main terminal, handy if you arrive early before check-in.

Best for Seaplane Transfers

Huvandhumaa Lounge

The Huvandhumaa Lounge is in the Seaplane Terminal, the only lounge positioned for travellers connecting to a resort floatplane. It takes DragonPass and Priority Pass and offers runway and lagoon views — a calm place to wait out a transfer window.

Best Alliance Lounge

Koveli Lounge

The Koveli Lounge serves oneworld premium-cabin passengers and eligible status holders, sitting airside after security on the upper floor of the terminal with floor-to-ceiling runway views. The most polished alliance lounge experience at MLE.

Best for Pay-Per-Visit

Neeri Lounge

The Neeri Lounge sells walk-in entry, so you can pay per visit without a membership or airline status. Note that, in line with local custom, the Neeri Lounge does not serve alcohol.

INTL

International / Main Terminal

Velana's main passenger terminal handles the international departures that bring most visitors to the Maldives, and holds the bulk of the airport's lounges. The LEELI and Koveli lounges sit airside after security for alliance passengers, the Maamahi Executive Club is also airside, and the Moonimaa and Neeri lounges cover landside and pay-in access before the checkpoint. The landside Moonimaa Lounge sits just outside the main entrance and is accessible for both international and domestic flights. Membership-network lounges here run on Priority Pass and DragonPass.

  • Largest cluster of MLE lounges, spanning landside and airside
  • Moonimaa takes both DragonPass and Priority Pass (landside)
  • Moonimaa is landside and serves both international and domestic flights
  • LEELI, Koveli and Maamahi serve airline-alliance passengers airside
  • Neeri sells walk-in entry; note it does not serve alcohol
SEAPLANE

Seaplane Terminal

A large share of Maldives arrivals connect onward to a resort by seaplane, and the Seaplane Terminal has its own lounge for that wait. The Huvandhumaa Lounge sits airside after the security check on the ground floor, with windows over the runway and lagoon — the practical choice if your onward journey is a floatplane rather than a flight.

  • Dedicated lounge for resort seaplane transfers
  • Huvandhumaa takes DragonPass and Priority Pass
  • Airside after the security check, ground floor
  • Runway and lagoon views while you wait for your transfer
Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em MLE.

Velana International is best approached with a lounge membership: Priority Pass and DragonPass between them open the most doors here, covering the independent network lounges across the terminals. Airline-alliance status (oneworld, SkyTeam, Star Alliance) reaches the alliance lounges for premium-cabin and eligible passengers, and a couple of lounges sell walk-in entry so you can pay per visit. Always check whether your lounge is landside or airside, and whether it's in the international, seaplane or domestic terminal.

Lounge membership

Priority Pass

Priority Pass is accepted at several MLE lounges, including the landside Moonimaa Lounge and the Huvandhumaa Lounge in the Seaplane Terminal. It's one of the two most useful memberships to carry here — check the per-lounge page to confirm coverage and terminal.

DragonPass

DragonPass opens the Moonimaa Lounge in the main terminal and the Huvandhumaa Lounge in the Seaplane Terminal. If you hold DragonPass, it pairs with Priority Pass to cover the independent network lounges at Velana.

Airline status

Airline & alliance lounges

The alliance lounges serve premium-cabin passengers and eligible status holders: the Koveli Lounge and Maamahi Executive Club for oneworld, the LEELI Lounge for SkyTeam, and Star Alliance carriers for their own passengers. Access follows your ticket and frequent-flyer tier.

A business- or first-class ticket on your carrier, or an eligible alliance partner, gets you into that airline's alliance lounge directly — the simplest route if you're flying premium out of Malé, with no membership needed.

A few Velana lounges sell entry at the door, including the Neeri Lounge and the landside Moonimaa Lounge, so you can pay per visit without a membership or airline status. Capacity can be limited, so it helps to arrive with time to spare.

01

Lead with Priority Pass or DragonPass

  • Priority Pass and DragonPass between them open the most lounges at Velana — if you carry either, you're covered at the main independent lounges.
  • Several MLE lounges are independent network lounges rather than airline-branded, so the membership matters more than which airline you fly.
  • The Moonimaa Lounge takes both memberships, making it the safest single bet across the field.
02

Mind the terminal

  • Velana has separate international, seaplane and domestic areas — match your lounge to where your onward journey actually leaves from.
  • If you're transferring to a resort by floatplane, the Huvandhumaa Lounge in the Seaplane Terminal is the one positioned for that wait.
  • The landside Moonimaa Lounge sits just outside the main terminal entrance and is open to both international and domestic travellers.
03

Landside vs airside

  • The Moonimaa Lounge is landside, before passport control — useful if you arrive early and want to settle before check-in.
  • The alliance lounges (Koveli, Maamahi) and LEELI sit airside, after security, so clear the checkpoint first.
  • Don't clear security expecting to reach a landside lounge afterwards — pick the right side before you commit.
04

Know the local touches

  • In line with local custom, the Neeri Lounge does not serve alcohol — worth knowing if that matters to your visit.
  • Several lounges look out over the runway and the surrounding lagoon, a distinctive Maldives view while you wait.
  • Walk-in capacity can be tight at peak resort-transfer times, so arrive with a buffer if you're paying at the door.
