Sobre BGW

Baghdad International Airport (BGW) keeps its nine lounges inside a single passenger terminal, spread across the named Babylon, Nineveh, Samara and Naynawa concourses. Most are independent contract lounges in the DragonPass network — the Ahlein Premium, Iraqi, Topaz and Baghdad lounges — sitting airside after passport control and security. Priority Pass covers only the Ahlein Premium Lounge, while oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance status reach the airline-aligned lounges from Iraqi Airways and its partners. Two VIP lounges, Hamorabi and Ishtar, sell walk-in entry so you can pay per visit without a membership. If you're flying out of Baghdad, a DragonPass membership is the most reliable way in; premium-cabin passengers can use their airline's lounge, and the VIP lounges cover everyone else.

Best Overall

Ahlein Premium Lounge

The Ahlein Premium Lounge has the widest membership access at BGW — it takes both DragonPass and Priority Pass — and sits airside in the passenger terminal with a hot buffet, Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The most flexible single option for travellers without airline status.

Best for DragonPass

Topaz Lounge

Topaz Lounge is the most fully equipped DragonPass option at Baghdad, adding showers, a children's area and a business centre to the usual hot buffet and Wi-Fi. A strong pick if you carry DragonPass and want the broadest amenities before a flight.

Best Airline Lounge

Baghdad Lounge

The Baghdad Lounge pairs DragonPass entry with oneworld Sapphire access, so it works whether you hold the membership or are flying a oneworld carrier in business class. Runway views, a hot buffet and a prayer room make it a comfortable all-rounder.

Best for Pay-Per-Visit

Hamorabi VIP Lounge

The Hamorabi VIP Lounge sells walk-in entry, so you can pay per visit without any membership or airline status. It serves snacks plus complimentary soft drinks, house wine, beer and spirits — a straightforward paid option at BGW.

PASSENGER

Passenger Terminal

Baghdad International runs from a single passenger terminal split into named concourses — Babylon, Nineveh (Ninva), Samara and Naynawa. Almost all the lounges sit airside in this complex, after passport control and security. The independent contract lounges (Ahlein, Iraqi, Topaz, Baghdad) cluster between the Babylon and Samara halls on DragonPass, while the airline and VIP lounges are spread through the same terminal.

  • All nine BGW lounges sit within the single passenger terminal
  • DragonPass is accepted at the widest set of airside contract lounges
  • Independent lounges cluster between the Babylon and Samara concourses
  • Airline lounges (Iraqi Airways, oneworld, Star Alliance) serve their own premium passengers
Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em BGW.

Baghdad is a DragonPass airport first and foremost — that single membership unlocks more lounges than anything else here. Priority Pass covers one lounge, oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance status reach the airline-aligned lounges, and a pair of VIP lounges sell walk-in entry so you can pay per visit. Almost everything is airside, so clear passport control and security before heading for a lounge.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is the most useful membership at Baghdad, accepted at the Ahlein Premium, Iraqi, Topaz and Baghdad lounges — the airside contract lounges in the passenger terminal. If you carry one card here, make it DragonPass.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass coverage at BGW is narrow — it is accepted at the Ahlein Premium Lounge in the passenger terminal. Check the per-lounge page before you travel, as DragonPass opens a wider set of Baghdad lounges.

The Hamorabi and Ishtar VIP lounges sell entry at the door, so you can pay per visit without any membership or airline status. They serve snacks and drinks and are a useful fallback if the contract lounges are busy.

Airline & alliance lounges

Iraqi Airways runs its Business Class Lounge for SkyTeam Elite Plus and premium-cabin passengers, the Baghdad and First Class lounges take oneworld Sapphire and Emerald flyers, and the Ahlein lounge serves Star Alliance Gold. Access follows your ticket and frequent-flyer tier.

Business & First class ticket

A business- or first-class ticket gets you into the matching airline or alliance lounge directly — Iraqi Airways Business for SkyTeam, the Baghdad and First Class lounges for oneworld, and the Ahlein lounge for Star Alliance — with no membership needed.

01

Lead with DragonPass

  • DragonPass covers more BGW lounges than Priority Pass — if you only carry one card, it's the better bet here.
  • Most Baghdad lounges are independent contract lounges rather than airline-branded, so your membership matters more than the airline you're flying.
  • The Ahlein Premium Lounge takes both DragonPass and Priority Pass, so it's the safest single target if you hold either.
02

Airside vs landside

  • Almost all BGW lounges are airside, after passport control and security — clear the checkpoints first.
  • The Ahlein Premium Lounge sits after passport control but before the security check, so you can use it slightly earlier in the flow.
  • Lounges cluster between the Babylon, Nineveh and Samara concourses, so check which hall yours is near before you walk through.
03

Give yourself time

  • Baghdad check-in, passport control and security can be slow at peak — arrive early and don't count on a long lounge stay.
  • Lounges can fill around the evening departure bank to regional hubs; go earlier if you want a quiet seat.
  • Day passes at the VIP lounges are a reliable fallback when the contract lounges are crowded.
04

Making the most of access

  • Flying a oneworld carrier in business? The Baghdad Lounge doubles as a DragonPass and oneworld Sapphire lounge.
  • Iraqi Airways premium passengers and SkyTeam Elite Plus members have their own Business Class Lounge.
  • The Topaz Lounge adds showers and a children's area, handy on a long layover or when travelling with family.
