Sobre CPT

Cape Town International (CPT) gathers its nine lounges into a single terminal building split between domestic and international halves. The international side carries most of the choice: a Bidvest Premier Lounge and the Bidvest Sky Lounge, the premium SLOW Lounge, and dedicated Emirates, British Airways and South African Airways lounges. The domestic side has the Bidvest Premier Lounge — the most flexible at CPT, taking SkyTeam, DragonPass and Priority Pass — plus the Domestic Premium Class Lounge for Star Alliance passengers. DragonPass opens the most independent lounges, Priority Pass and SkyTeam reach the domestic Bidvest, and Star Alliance status covers several international independents. The airline lounges follow your ticket and tier, while the SLOW Lounge and SAA Platinum sell or include pay-in entry. Because the lounges split across the two sides, always pick one in the half you're flying from.

Best Overall

Bidvest Premier Lounge

The Bidvest Premier Lounge on the domestic side is the most flexible option at CPT — it takes SkyTeam status, DragonPass and Priority Pass, so most travellers have a way in. It sits airside with runway views and dedicated work zones, a reliable all-rounder before a domestic departure.

Best Premium Independent

SLOW Lounge

The SLOW Lounge is Cape Town's standout pay-in lounge, with an on-site chef, a seasonal menu, barista coffee, a wine bar of South African labels, a library and business facilities. A clear step up from the standard buffet lounges when you want a more polished pre-flight stay.

Best Airline Lounge

British Airways Lounge

The British Airways Lounge serves oneworld premium-cabin passengers and eligible status holders on the international side, blending contemporary British style with African accents and quiet runway-view seating — the most consistent branded-airline experience at CPT.

Best Flagship Experience

The Emirates Lounge

The Emirates Lounge opened in March 2016 as a two-level space for up to 123 guests, with Italian marble floors, leather armchairs and walnut finishes. It serves Emirates First and Business Class passengers and eligible Skywards members flying out of Cape Town.

INTL

International Terminal

The international side of Cape Town's terminal holds most of the airport's lounges. The independent options — a Bidvest Premier Lounge, the Bidvest Sky Lounge and the SLOW Lounge — sit alongside the dedicated Emirates, British Airways and South African Airways lounges. Independent access runs on DragonPass, Priority Pass and walk-in pay-in, while the airline lounges follow your ticket and status.

  • Largest cluster of CPT lounges, on the international side after security
  • Bidvest International (cape-town-2) is accessible on DragonPass
  • SLOW Lounge sells walk-in pay-in entry and is the premium independent
  • Dedicated Emirates, British Airways and South African Airways lounges here
DOM

Domestic Terminal

Cape Town's domestic side carries two lounges. The Bidvest Premier Lounge is the headline option, airside with runway views and the widest access of any CPT lounge — SkyTeam, DragonPass and Priority Pass. The Domestic Premium Class Lounge covers Star Alliance passengers. Both are handy before a domestic departure to Johannesburg, Durban or the other South African hubs.

  • Bidvest Premier Lounge takes SkyTeam, DragonPass and Priority Pass
  • Domestic Premium Class Lounge serves Star Alliance passengers
  • Both sit on the domestic side of the terminal
  • Useful before domestic hops to Johannesburg or Durban
Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em CPT.

Cape Town is a membership-and-status airport more than a pure walk-in one. DragonPass opens the most independent lounges, Priority Pass and SkyTeam reach the domestic Bidvest Premier Lounge, and Star Alliance status covers several of the international independents. The airline lounges — Emirates, British Airways and South African Airways — follow your ticket and frequent-flyer tier, while the SLOW Lounge and SAA Platinum sell or include pay-in entry. Check whether your lounge is on the domestic or international side before clearing security.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at the widest set of Cape Town's independent lounges, including the domestic Bidvest Premier Lounge and the Bidvest Premier Lounge on the international side. If you carry one membership for CPT, DragonPass opens the most doors.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass is accepted at the domestic Bidvest Premier Lounge. Coverage is narrower than DragonPass at CPT, so confirm your specific lounge and which side of the terminal it's on before you travel.

Airline status

Airline & alliance lounges

SkyTeam status reaches the domestic Bidvest Premier Lounge, while Star Alliance status covers the Domestic Premium Class Lounge and several international independents. The British Airways Lounge serves oneworld premium and status passengers, and the Emirates Lounge serves Emirates premium cabins and Skywards members.

The SLOW Lounge sells pay-in entry, and the South African Airways Platinum lounge admits on a pay-in basis, so you can get in without airline status or a lounge membership. Booking ahead where possible is usually the safest way to guarantee a seat.

A premium-cabin ticket on Emirates, British Airways or a relevant alliance partner gets you into that airline's Cape Town lounge directly — the simplest route if you're flying business or first out of CPT, with no membership needed.

01

Domestic vs international

  • Cape Town's lounges split across the domestic and international halves of the terminal — pick one on the side you're flying from.
  • Most of the choice is on the international side; the domestic side has the Bidvest Premier Lounge and the Premium Class lounge.
  • If you're connecting domestic-to-international, you'll move between the two sides, so allow time for the walk and any re-screening.
02

Lead with DragonPass

  • DragonPass covers more CPT independent lounges than Priority Pass — the better single membership to carry here.
  • The domestic Bidvest Premier Lounge is the most flexible at CPT, taking SkyTeam, DragonPass and Priority Pass.
  • Several international independents run on Star Alliance status, so your alliance can matter as much as a paid membership.
03

Pay-in options

  • The SLOW Lounge sells walk-in pay-in entry and is the most polished independent — worth it if you want chef-made food and a quieter space.
  • The South African Airways Platinum lounge admits on a pay-in basis as well as for Voyager Platinum cardholders.
  • Booking ahead where you can is the safest way to secure a seat at busy departure peaks.
04

Timing & crowds

  • Cape Town's morning domestic bank to Johannesburg fills the domestic lounges fast — arrive early for a seat.
  • The evening long-haul departures to Europe and the Gulf are the busiest window on the international side.
  • Mid-afternoon is usually the calmest stretch between the morning and evening departure peaks.
