Sobre DUR

King Shaka International Airport (DUR) is Durban's gateway, and we track four lounges across its Domestic and International terminals. The domestic side carries most of them: the Bidvest Premier Lounge, an airside contract lounge on DragonPass and Priority Pass; the design-led SLOW Lounge with chef-prepared food; and South African Airways' Baobab Premium Class Lounge on the third floor for premium and Star Alliance passengers. The single international option, the Umphafa Lounge, sits airside after passport control and is also reachable on DragonPass or Priority Pass. If you don't hold airline status, a DragonPass or Priority Pass membership is the most reliable way into a lounge here, with one lounge covered on each side of security. Because the lounges split between domestic and international, always pick one in the terminal you're departing from.

Como entrar nas salas VIP em DUR.

Durban is a DragonPass and Priority Pass airport first — those two memberships open the Bidvest Premier Lounge (Domestic) and the Umphafa Lounge (International), the two airside contract lounges. South African Airways runs its own Baobab Premium Class Lounge for premium and Star Alliance passengers, and a couple of lounges can be entered pay-per-visit. Always check whether your lounge is on the domestic or international side before clearing security.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at the Bidvest Premier Lounge in the Domestic Terminal and the Umphafa Lounge in the International Terminal — the two airside contract lounges at King Shaka. It's one of the most useful memberships to carry here.

01

Domestic vs international

  • Three of King Shaka's four lounges are on the domestic side — only the Umphafa Lounge serves international departures.
  • International travellers clear passport control and security before reaching the Umphafa Lounge, so plan your timing around that.
  • If you're connecting domestic-to-international, you'll move between the two sides — leave time for the transfer.
02

Lead with DragonPass or Priority Pass

  • The Bidvest Premier and Umphafa lounges both take DragonPass and Priority Pass — the most reliable way in if you don't have airline status.
  • Either membership covers one lounge on each side of security, so you're set whether you're flying domestic or international.
03

Timing & hours

  • The Bidvest Premier Lounge runs roughly 05:15 to 20:30 and the Umphafa Lounge around 07:00 to 21:00 — check current hours against your flight.
  • Early-morning and late-evening departures can fall outside lounge hours, so confirm the lounge is open before you rely on it.
04

Know your options

  • South African Airways flyers in a premium cabin or with Star Alliance status can use the Baobab Premium Class Lounge in the Domestic Terminal.
  • The SLOW Lounge is the design-led choice on the domestic side, with chef-prepared food and a calmer atmosphere.
