Sobre DAT

Datong Yungang Airport (DAT) is a small regional gateway in Shanxi, northern China, serving the historic city of Datong. It's a compact single-terminal airport, and the three lounges we track all sit in the main terminal. The airside First Class Lounge is the most flexible, taking DragonPass and Priority Pass as well as walk-in entry, with snacks, soft drinks, computer access and flight monitors. The Airport Lounge on the departure floor serves Star Alliance passengers, and the landside VIP Lounge sells entry to any passenger for a fee and also welcomes Priority Pass members. Because some lounges are airside and one is landside, decide which one matches your access before you clear security. As a regional airport, the lounges are modest — expect a quiet space with snacks and soft drinks rather than a full hot buffet.

01

Airside vs landside

  • The First Class Lounge and Airport Lounge are airside, reached after passport control and security — clear the checkpoint first.
  • The VIP Lounge is landside, before security, so it's the one to use if you want to settle in early.
  • Decide which lounge matches your access and position before you go through, as you can't easily hop between landside and airside.
02

Pick the right membership

  • DragonPass and Priority Pass both open the airside First Class Lounge — either works there.
  • Priority Pass also covers the landside VIP Lounge, giving you a before- and after-security option.
  • If you're flying a Star Alliance carrier, the Airport Lounge on the departure floor is your branded route in.
03

Set expectations for a small airport

  • Datong is a compact regional airport, so lounges are modest — expect snacks and soft drinks rather than a full hot buffet.
  • The First Class Lounge has a maximum two-hour stay, so time your visit to your departure.
  • Opening hours track the flight schedule (the First Class Lounge runs from 07:30 to the last flight), so very early or late departures may fall outside lounge hours.
04

Pay-per-visit works here

  • The VIP Lounge admits any passenger for a fee, regardless of class of service — a simple paid option if you have no membership.
  • The airside First Class Lounge can also be paid for at the door if you don't hold DragonPass or Priority Pass.
  • Paying per visit means you don't need airline status to get a quieter space before your flight.
