Helsinki Airport Lounges

Helsinki Airport(Helsinki-Vantaa Airport) · Helsinki, Finland

Helsinki Airport (HEL) is Finnair's hub and a key Europe-to-Asia transfer point, with all nine of its lounges in the single passenger terminal. The split that matters is Schengen versus non-Schengen: Finnair runs its flagship lounges and Platinum Wing here, while Plaza Premium and three Aspire lounges cover Priority Pass, pay-in and alliance access.

Sobre HEL

Helsinki Airport (HEL) is Finnair's home hub and one of Europe's main gateways to Asia, so its lounge scene leans heavily on Finnair and the oneworld alliance. All nine lounges we track sit in the single passenger terminal, and the divide that matters is Schengen versus non-Schengen rather than separate terminal buildings. Finnair runs most of them: the new Finnair Lounge and Platinum corner on the Schengen side, and the Finnair Business Lounge and Platinum Wing on the non-Schengen side. If you don't have Finnair or oneworld status, the Plaza Premium Lounge and the three Aspire lounges are your way in — they cover Priority Pass, LoungeKey and walk-in day passes between them. Always check whether your gate is on the Schengen or non-Schengen side before settling into a lounge, since the two zones don't connect once you're through.

Best Airline Lounge

Finnair Lounge

The new Finnair Lounge, opened in July 2024 on the Schengen side, replaced the airline's legacy club with distinct work, dining and relaxation zones and panoramic tarmac views — the standout branded experience for Finnair and oneworld passengers at Helsinki.

Best Premium Tier

Platinum Wing

The Finnair Platinum Wing on the non-Schengen side is the airline's top tier, reserved for Finnair Plus Platinum and oneworld Emerald members. A quieter, more exclusive space than the main Finnair business lounges.

Best for Pay-Per-Visit

Aspire Lounge Gate 27

The Aspire Lounge near Gate 27 welcomes everyone on a pay-in basis as well as Priority Pass and LoungeKey members — a reliable walk-in option when the Finnair lounges are restricted to status passengers.

SCHENGEN

Schengen Area (intra-Europe departures)

Helsinki operates from a single passenger terminal, and the dividing line that matters for lounges is Schengen versus non-Schengen. On the Schengen side, used for flights within most of Europe, you'll find the new Finnair Lounge, the Finnair Platinum corner and the OP Lounge by Aspire. All sit airside after security.

  • Used for departures within the Schengen Area
  • The new Finnair Lounge (opened July 2024) is the headline option here
  • The Finnair Platinum corner serves top-tier oneworld and Finnair Plus members
  • The OP Lounge by Aspire is reserved for OP Financial Group cardholders
NONSCHENGEN

Non-Schengen Area (long-haul & non-Schengen departures)

The non-Schengen side handles long-haul and other non-Schengen flights, including most of Finnair's Asia and North America network. It holds the Plaza Premium Lounge, the Finnair Business Lounge, the Finnair Platinum Wing and the Aspire lounges near gates 13 and 27. This is where the widest access options sit, including Priority Pass and pay-in entry.

  • Used for long-haul and non-Schengen departures
  • Plaza Premium takes Priority Pass, Star Alliance, oneworld and pay-in entry
  • Finnair Business Lounge and Platinum Wing serve oneworld premium passengers
  • Two Aspire lounges (gates 13 and 27) cover Priority Pass, LoungeKey and walk-in
Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em HEL.

Helsinki splits cleanly into two access routes. If you fly Finnair or another oneworld carrier in a premium cabin or with status, the Finnair lounges and Platinum Wing are your home. Everyone else leans on Priority Pass, LoungeKey or a walk-in day pass — the Plaza Premium Lounge and the three Aspire lounges cover that field. Always check whether your gate is on the Schengen or non-Schengen side before you settle in.

Lounge membership

Priority Pass

Priority Pass is accepted at the Plaza Premium Lounge and at the Aspire lounges near gates 13 and 27 on the non-Schengen side. It's the single most useful membership for travellers without Finnair status at Helsinki.

LoungeKey

The Aspire lounges near gates 13 and 27 also welcome LoungeKey members alongside Priority Pass and walk-in guests. The OP Lounge by Aspire is more restricted — only specific OP cardholders qualify, not general LoungeKey or Priority Pass members.

Walk-in day pass

The Aspire lounges near gates 13 and 27 and the Plaza Premium Lounge all sell entry on a pay-in basis, so you can pay per visit without any membership or airline status. Booking ahead is usually cheaper than paying at the door.

Airline & alliance lounges

Finnair runs the bulk of Helsinki's lounges for oneworld passengers: the new Finnair Lounge and Platinum corner on the Schengen side, and the Finnair Business Lounge and Platinum Wing on the non-Schengen side. The Plaza Premium Lounge additionally accepts Star Alliance status.

01

Schengen vs non-Schengen

  • Helsinki is one terminal, but lounges sit on either the Schengen or non-Schengen side — check your gate before choosing one.
  • Most long-haul and Asia flights leave from the non-Schengen side, where the widest pay-in and Priority Pass options are.
  • The new Finnair Lounge is on the Schengen side, so it suits intra-Europe departures rather than long-haul.
02

Without Finnair status

  • If you don't have oneworld status, Plaza Premium and the gate 13 and 27 Aspire lounges are your pay-in or Priority Pass routes.
  • The Aspire lounges near gates 13 and 27 take walk-ins, Priority Pass and LoungeKey — a dependable fallback.
  • Booking a lounge slot online ahead of time is usually cheaper than paying at the door.
03

Finnair's lounge tiers

  • Finnair Plus Gold and business-class passengers use the main Finnair lounges; the Platinum Wing is reserved for Plus Platinum and oneworld Emerald.
  • The new Finnair Lounge (opened July 2024) replaced the airline's older Schengen club and is the better experience.
  • Platinum-tier members get a quieter space; Gold and business guests are pointed to the adjacent main lounge.
04

Watch the access fine print

  • The OP Lounge by Aspire near gate 22 is only for OP Gold and Platinum cardholders — general Priority Pass and LoungeKey don't qualify.
  • Helsinki is a major Asia transfer hub, so the non-Schengen lounges fill around the long-haul departure banks.
  • Power outlets and fast Wi-Fi are standard across the main lounges — Plaza Premium has power at every seat.
