Sobre MLA

Malta International Airport (MLA) at Luqa is the country's only airport, running from a single passenger terminal, and its three lounges all sit airside. On the departures side, the La Valette Club is the main contract lounge — airside on the third floor with an open-air terrace and runway views, reachable on DragonPass, Priority Pass or oneworld Sapphire status — while the La Valette Lounge serves SkyTeam and Star Alliance passengers. On the arrivals side, a separate VIP Lounge offers a pay-per-visit space to freshen up after landing, and also accepts DragonPass and Priority Pass. There are no landside lounges, so clear security or passport control before heading in, and remember the arrivals VIP Lounge is for travellers landing rather than departing.

Best Overall

La Valette Club

La Valette Club is the main contract lounge at Malta, airside on the third floor with an open-air terrace and runway views. It takes DragonPass, Priority Pass and oneworld Sapphire, serves hot and cold food, and is the most flexible way in for most departing passengers.

Best Airline Lounge

La Valette Lounge

La Valette Lounge is the alliance-aligned option airside after security, welcoming SkyTeam Elite Plus and Star Alliance Gold passengers as well as eligible business and first class travellers. The route in is your airline status or premium-cabin ticket rather than a lounge membership.

Best for Arrivals

VIP Lounge (Arrivals)

The VIP Lounge sits on the arrivals side, after passport control near baggage reclaim. It's a pay-per-visit space to freshen up and regroup after landing, and also accepts DragonPass and Priority Pass — a use case the departure lounges don't cover.

Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em MLA.

Malta is a small single-terminal airport with a compact lounge field, so the route in is straightforward. DragonPass and Priority Pass open the contract lounges, airline and alliance status covers the dedicated airline lounge, and the arrivals VIP Lounge also sells walk-in entry for a fee. Check whether your lounge is on the departures or arrivals side before you clear the checkpoint.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at the airside La Valette Club in departures and at the arrivals VIP Lounge. It's one of the two main membership routes into the Malta contract lounges.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass works at the La Valette Club (departures, airside) and the VIP Lounge (arrivals). Check capacity at busy times, as the lounges are modest in size.

01

Departures vs arrivals

  • Malta's lounges split by side of the airport — La Valette Club and La Valette Lounge are airside in departures, the VIP Lounge is on the arrivals side.
  • Don't confuse the arrivals VIP Lounge with the departure lounges; it's for travellers landing, not flying out.
  • There are no landside lounges, so clear security or passport control first depending on which lounge you want.
02

Pick your access route

  • DragonPass and Priority Pass both open the La Valette Club and the VIP Lounge — either membership works.
  • If you fly with status, La Valette Lounge covers SkyTeam and Star Alliance, while La Valette Club adds oneworld Sapphire.
  • No membership or status? The arrivals VIP Lounge sells a walk-in day pass for a per-guest fee.
03

Make the most of the Club

  • La Valette Club is on the third floor — take the lift up after the duty-free area and turn left.
  • It has an open-air terrace with runway views, a rare touch for a small airport lounge.
  • It's the only Malta lounge serving hot food, so it's the better departures pick if you want a proper bite.
04

Timing and size

  • Malta's lounges are modest in size and can fill around busy departure banks — go early if you want a comfortable seat.
  • Stays in the contract lounges are capped at three hours, which is ample for most short-haul connections.
  • All three lounges run long hours, so they're usable across early-morning and late-evening flights.
