Sobre NBO

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) is East Africa's busiest gateway, and its lounge scene is concentrated almost entirely in Terminal 1, the main building split into five concourses lettered 1A to 1E. Most of the 11 lounges we track are independent contract lounges in the DragonPass, Priority Pass and SkyTeam networks, alongside Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi (1D), the Turkish Airlines Star Alliance Lounge (1E), the Swissport-operated Aspire Lounge (1B) and Kenya Airways' own lounges. If you're flying internationally out of Nairobi, a DragonPass or Priority Pass membership is the most reliable way in; SkyTeam, Star Alliance and oneworld status open the airline-aligned lounges, and several lounges also sell walk-up pay-in entry. Terminal 2, used mainly for low-cost and regional departures, carries two more — Mara Lounge and Mount Kenya Lounge. Because nearly everything is airside, clear passport control and security before heading for your lounge, and check which concourse it's in.

Onde nós realmente iríamos.

Best Overall

Aspire Lounge

The Aspire Lounge in Terminal 1B is the most widely usable option at NBO — it takes DragonPass and Star Alliance, sits airside opposite the gates and is the lounge most international travellers can reach without a specific airline or membership.

Best Premium Independent

Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi

Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi in Terminal 1D is the airport's flagship branded independent lounge, on Level 2 near Gate 4. A consistent, polished option for oneworld passengers and anyone who knows the Plaza Premium template.

Best Airline Lounge

Turkish Airlines - Star Alliance Lounge

The Turkish Airlines Star Alliance Lounge in Terminal 1E is the strongest branded-airline experience at NBO, serving Turkish and Star Alliance passengers and also reachable on DragonPass and Priority Pass.

Best for Priority Pass

Mara Lounge

Mara Lounge in Terminal 2 accepts Priority Pass and DragonPass and sells walk-up pay-in entry — the most flexible way in if you're departing from Terminal 2 rather than the main building.

Guia de terminais

Salas VIP de Jomo Kenyatta International Airport por terminal.

T1

Terminal 1 (Concourses 1A–1E)

Terminal 1 is JKIA's main building, divided into five concourses lettered 1A to 1E, and it holds almost all of Nairobi's lounges. Most sit airside after passport control and security and are independent contract lounges in the DragonPass, Priority Pass and SkyTeam networks. Plaza Premium (1D), the Turkish Airlines Star Alliance Lounge (1E), Aspire (1B) and Kenya Airways' own lounges are all in this building.

  • Holds nearly every NBO lounge, spread across concourses 1A to 1E
  • Most are airside, after passport control and the security check
  • Aspire (1B), Plaza Premium (1D) and Turkish (1E) anchor the field
  • DragonPass and SkyTeam reach the widest set of these lounges
T2

Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is JKIA's secondary building, used mainly for low-cost and regional departures. Lounge coverage is lighter here than in Terminal 1, with two airside options — Mara Lounge and Mount Kenya Lounge — both reachable on DragonPass or Priority Pass, with walk-up pay-in also available at Mara.

  • Fewer lounges than Terminal 1 — two airside options
  • Mara Lounge takes Priority Pass, DragonPass and walk-up pay-in
  • Mount Kenya Lounge is the second Terminal 2 airside lounge
  • Both sit after passport control and security, near the gates
Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em NBO.

Nairobi is a DragonPass and Priority Pass airport first — those two memberships unlock the widest set of lounges across Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. SkyTeam status reaches the Kenya Airways-aligned lounges in the main building, oneworld and Star Alliance open a few branded lounges, and several lounges also sell walk-in pay-in entry. Almost everything is airside, so clear passport control and security before you head for a lounge.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass is accepted at the widest set of NBO lounges, including the Terminal 1 contract lounges (Simba, Pride, Asante, Msafiri, Aspire) and the Terminal 2 lounges (Mara, Mount Kenya). It's the single most useful membership here.

Priority Pass

Priority Pass works at several NBO lounges, including Mara and Mount Kenya in Terminal 2 and the Turkish Airlines Star Alliance Lounge in Terminal 1E. Coverage is narrower than DragonPass, so check the per-lounge page for your terminal.

Airline & alliance lounges

SkyTeam status reaches the Kenya Airways-aligned lounges (Simba, Pride, Asante, Msafiri); Star Alliance opens the Turkish Airlines and Aspire lounges; and oneworld reaches Plaza Premium and TAV. Access follows your ticket and frequent-flyer tier.

Walk-in pay-in entry

01

Lead with DragonPass

  • DragonPass covers more NBO lounges than Priority Pass — if you only carry one, it's the better bet here.
  • Most Nairobi lounges are independent contract lounges rather than airline-branded, so the membership matters more than your airline.
  • SkyTeam status holders flying Kenya Airways can use the aligned Simba, Pride, Asante and Msafiri lounges in Terminal 1.
02

Know your concourse

  • Terminal 1 is split into concourses 1A to 1E — check which one your lounge is in before you clear security.
  • Aspire is in 1B, Plaza Premium in 1D, the Turkish lounge in 1E, and Simba and Pride in 1A.
  • If you're departing from Terminal 2, Mara and Mount Kenya are your two options — the Terminal 1 lounges won't be reachable.
03

Give yourself time

  • Nairobi check-in, immigration and security can be slow at peak — arrive early and don't count on a long lounge stay.
  • Lounges fill around the evening long-haul bank to Europe and the Gulf; go earlier if you want a seat.
  • Most lounges cap your stay a few hours before departure, so time your arrival to match your flight.
04

Pay-per-visit works here

  • Several NBO lounges sell walk-up pay-in entry, so you can get in without a membership or airline status.
  • Mara Lounge in Terminal 2 takes pay-in alongside Priority Pass and DragonPass — a reliable fallback.
  • Booking or pre-paying a lounge slot where available is usually cheaper than the at-door rate.

Yes. Priority Pass is accepted at several NBO lounges, including Mara and Mount Kenya in Terminal 2 and the Turkish Airlines Star Alliance Lounge in Terminal 1E. DragonPass covers an even wider set, so if you hold both, DragonPass opens more doors at NBO.

For the widest access, the Aspire Lounge in Terminal 1B works on DragonPass and Star Alliance and sits airside near the gates. Plaza Premium Lounge Nairobi in Terminal 1D is the flagship branded independent, and the Turkish Airlines Star Alliance Lounge in 1E is the strongest airline lounge.

Yes — several lounges sell walk-up pay-in entry at the door, including Mara Lounge in Terminal 2 and the Kenya Airways Msafari Lounge, so you can pay per visit without Priority Pass, DragonPass or airline status.

Almost all of them are in Terminal 1, the main building, spread across concourses 1A to 1E and mostly airside after passport control and security. Two more — Mara and Mount Kenya — are in Terminal 2. Always check which terminal and concourse your lounge is in before clearing security.
