Sobre URC

Urumqi Tianshan International Airport (URC) is the main gateway to China's Xinjiang region, and we track five lounges across it. China Southern, the home carrier, runs two lounges in the airside North Terminal — the Kapok Lounge on the international side and the Members Lounge on the domestic side — both opened by DragonPass. Three further lounges in Terminal 3 sell walk-in entry: the Guest Lounge on the domestic side near gate 25, and the China Southern Sky Pearl Lounge and the First and Business Class Guest Lounge on the international side around gate 17. There's no confirmed Priority Pass coverage at URC, so DragonPass or paying per visit are the reliable ways in. Whether you're flying domestic or international decides which side of the terminal — and which lounge — you'll use, so check your departure before clearing the checkpoint.

NORTH

North Terminal

The North Terminal holds Urumqi's two China Southern lounges, both airside and both accepted on DragonPass. The Kapok Lounge is the international option, reached by going downstairs and turning right after border control; the Members Lounge is the domestic option at the South Triangle after the security check. Neither needs Priority Pass — DragonPass is the membership that works here.

  • Kapok Lounge (international) is past border control, downstairs and right
  • Members Lounge (domestic) sits at the South Triangle after security
  • DragonPass is the membership that opens both — no Priority Pass confirmed

Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em URC.

Urumqi is a split airport for lounge access. The two China Southern lounges in the North Terminal are opened by DragonPass, while the three Terminal 3 lounges sell walk-in entry at the door. We have no confirmed Priority Pass coverage at URC, so DragonPass or paying per visit are the reliable routes in. Check whether you're flying domestic or international, and from which terminal, before choosing a lounge.

Lounge membership

DragonPass

DragonPass opens the two China Southern lounges in the North Terminal — the Kapok Lounge on the international side and the Members Lounge on the domestic side. It's the single most useful membership at URC; the Terminal 3 lounges are pay-in rather than membership-based.

The three Terminal 3 lounges — the Guest Lounge, the China Southern Sky Pearl Lounge and the First and Business Class Guest Lounge — sell entry at the door, so you can pay per visit with no membership or status. The First and Business Class lounge admits any passenger for a fee.

China Southern premium passengers

China Southern is the home carrier at Urumqi and runs the lounges in the North Terminal and the Sky Pearl Lounge in Terminal 3. Premium-cabin and eligible status passengers flying China Southern are the natural audience for these lounges.

Business & First class ticket

A premium-cabin China Southern ticket is the simplest route into the airline's lounges at URC. On the international side of Terminal 3, the First and Business Class Guest Lounge also admits other passengers for a fee, so a pay-in option exists alongside the airline route.

01

Domestic vs international

  • URC's lounges split by where you're flying — the Kapok Lounge (North Terminal) and the Sky Pearl and First/Business lounges (Terminal 3) are international, while the Members Lounge and Guest Lounge serve domestic departures.
  • Clear the matching checkpoint first: the international lounges sit past border control, the domestic ones past the security check.
  • If you're connecting domestic-to-international, factor in the move between sides.
02

How to get in

  • DragonPass is the membership that works at URC — it opens both China Southern lounges in the North Terminal.
  • We have no confirmed Priority Pass coverage at Urumqi, so don't count on it at the door.
  • If you don't hold DragonPass, the Terminal 3 lounges sell walk-in entry instead.
03

Food and facilities

  • The North Terminal China Southern lounges serve a hot and cold buffet with Xinjiang touches, plus soft drinks; the Kapok Lounge also has a smoking area and massage chairs.
  • The Members Lounge (domestic) adds Wi-Fi, flight-information screens and a children's area if you're travelling with kids.
  • The Terminal 3 pay-in lounges are simpler — expect snacks and soft drinks rather than a full buffet.
04

Timing your visit

  • The North Terminal lounges can be busiest before the morning and evening China Southern departure banks — arrive earlier for a quiet seat.
  • Outlets in the Kapok and Members lounges can fill up at peak, so charge devices early.
  • Allow extra time during peak hours, as immigration and security queues at Urumqi can be slow.
