Sobre BIO

Bilbao Airport (BIO) is a compact, single-terminal airport in the Basque Country, and its lounge scene is just as straightforward: two Aena-run VIP lounges, both airside on the mezzanine boarding level (P2) of the Calatrava-designed terminal. The Sala Nervión is the long-standing lounge and the one most travellers will use — it accepts Priority Pass and DragonPass, and sells a walk-in day pass at the door, so you can get in whether you carry a membership card or simply want to pay per visit. The newer Sala Urdaibai is used as the premium lounge for business-class passengers and eligible alliance-status frequent flyers across a range of airlines. Because there's only one terminal, you don't have to worry about picking a lounge in the wrong building — just clear passport control and security, then follow the signs for the VIP lounges. Both open early for Bilbao's morning departures and stay open into the evening.

Best Overall

Sala VIP Bilbao

The Sala Nervión is Bilbao's most flexible lounge — it accepts Priority Pass and DragonPass, sells a walk-in day pass, and sits airside on the mezzanine boarding level. With the widest set of access routes at BIO, it's the default choice for most travellers leaving Bilbao.

Best for Pay-Per-Visit

Sala VIP Bilbao

If you don't hold a membership or status, the Sala Nervión sells entry at the door, so you can pay per visit. It's Bilbao's Priority Pass and DragonPass lounge too, making it the one to head for whether you're paying in or using a card.

Best for Premium Cabins

Sala Urdaibai

The Sala Urdaibai is Bilbao's newer Aena lounge, used as the premium space for business-class and eligible alliance-status passengers across several airlines. A good step up if your ticket or tier gets you in, with a hot buffet and a quiet, contemporary feel.

MAIN

Main Terminal

Bilbao operates from a single passenger terminal — the distinctive Santiago Calatrava-designed building locals call 'La Paloma'. Both VIP lounges sit airside, after passport control and security, on the mezzanine boarding level (P2). The Sala Nervión is the long-running lounge that covers Priority Pass, DragonPass and walk-in entry, while the Sala Urdaibai is the newer premium space for airline and alliance passengers. There's no separate terminal to navigate, so both lounges are a short walk from the gates.

  • Single terminal — both lounges are airside on the mezzanine boarding level (P2)
  • Sala Nervión takes Priority Pass, DragonPass and walk-in day passes
  • Sala Urdaibai is the newer premium lounge for airline and alliance passengers
  • Reach both after passport control and security; clear the checkpoint first

Como entrar nas salas VIP em BIO.

Bilbao is an easy airport to plan for — there are just two Aena VIP lounges, both airside on the mezzanine boarding level. The Sala Nervión is the membership and pay-in lounge, accepting Priority Pass, DragonPass and walk-in day passes, while the Sala Urdaibai is the premium space for business-class and eligible alliance-status passengers. Whichever you're aiming for, clear passport control and security first.

Lounge membership

Priority Pass

Priority Pass is accepted at the Sala Nervión, Bilbao's Priority Pass lounge. Present your membership card with a same-day boarding pass; access is typically allowed a few hours before departure and subject to capacity.

DragonPass

DragonPass also opens the Sala Nervión. If you carry DragonPass, it covers the same airside lounge as Priority Pass, so you can use whichever membership you hold to get in.

Walk-in day pass

The Sala Nervión sells a walk-in day pass at the door, so you can pay per visit without any membership or airline status. It's the simplest route in if you don't hold a lounge card or premium ticket.

Airline & alliance lounges

The Sala Urdaibai is used as the premium lounge for several airlines, admitting eligible business-class passengers and frequent flyers with the right tier (such as oneworld Sapphire, Star Alliance Gold or SkyTeam Elite Plus, depending on your carrier). Access follows your ticket and status.

01

Two lounges, one terminal

  • Bilbao has a single passenger terminal, so there's no risk of picking a lounge in the wrong building.
  • Both lounges are airside on the mezzanine boarding level (P2) — clear passport control and security before you head for either.
  • The Sala Nervión is the membership and pay-in lounge; the Sala Urdaibai is the airline and premium-cabin lounge.
02

Pay-per-visit strategy

  • The Sala Nervión sells a walk-in day pass, so you can pay per visit even without Priority Pass, DragonPass or airline status.
  • It's the same lounge whether you arrive on Priority Pass, DragonPass or as a paying walk-in — one airside space covers all three routes.
  • Booking or paying ahead online, where offered, is usually cheaper than paying at the door.
03

Timing & opening hours

  • Both lounges open early (around 05:30) for Bilbao's morning departures and close mid-to-late evening, roughly 22:00–22:15.
  • Access is usually permitted a few hours before your scheduled departure — turning up too early may mean waiting.
  • Bilbao is a compact airport, so you don't need to allow much time to reach the lounges once you're airside.
04

Make the most of access

  • If you hold both Priority Pass and DragonPass, either works at the Sala Nervión — no need to choose in advance.
  • Flying business class? Check whether your airline uses the Sala Urdaibai, which is the premium step up from the Nervión.
  • Both lounges offer a buffet, drinks, Wi-Fi and flight information screens — enough to settle in before a short-haul European flight.
