Sobre ORD

Chicago O'Hare (ORD) is one of the world's busiest airports, and its 11 lounges are spread across four separate terminals with access driven mostly by airline status rather than paid day passes. Terminal 1 is United's hub, home to the United Polaris Lounge for intercontinental business-class flyers and the United Club for Star Alliance Gold members. Terminal 3 is American Airlines' base, with the Admirals Club and the higher-tier Flagship Lounge sitting together between gates H6 and K6. The international Terminal 5 carries the densest cluster — Delta Sky Club, SAS, LOT and JAL airline lounges plus the independent Swissport Lounge, the only ORD lounge on the Priority Pass network. Because the terminals don't connect airside, always pick a lounge in the terminal you're flying from, and if you're relying on Priority Pass, know that Swissport often runs full.

Best Overall

United Polaris lounge

The United Polaris Lounge in Terminal 1 is O'Hare's standout, built for United Polaris business class and Star Alliance premium passengers on intercontinental flights. It pairs a sit-down restaurant with a full bar, showers and private rooms — the most complete lounge experience at ORD if your ticket gets you in.

Best for Priority Pass

Swissport Lounge

The Swissport Lounge in international Terminal 5 is the only ORD lounge that accepts Priority Pass, alongside Star Alliance and oneworld status. It's the go-to independent option in T5 — though it runs at capacity and can turn Priority Pass walk-ins away at busy times, so arrive early.

Best Flagship Lounge

American Airlines Flagship Lounge

American Airlines' Flagship Lounge in Terminal 3 is the carrier's premium tier at O'Hare, with a hot buffet, special coffee, showers, seating pods and runway views. It serves eligible oneworld premium-cabin and Flagship passengers — a clear step above the Admirals Club next door.

Best in Terminal 5

LOT Business Lounge Chicago

The LOT Business Lounge opened in December 2024 as the Polish carrier's first lounge outside Poland, adding a quality Star Alliance option to Terminal 5. It welcomes LOT premium passengers and Star Alliance Gold members, with hot food, a shower, a prayer room and a relaxation room.

USO

USO Center

Separate from the airline and contract lounges, O'Hare hosts a USO Center that welcomes U.S. Armed Forces active-duty, Reserve and Guard service members and their families. It's a service-member facility rather than a general-access airport lounge, offering a place to rest with snacks and soft drinks.

Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em ORD.

O'Hare is an airline-status airport first — most of its lounges are run by carriers and open on alliance status or a premium-cabin ticket rather than a paid day pass. United anchors Terminal 1, American anchors Terminal 3, and the international Terminal 5 carries Delta, SAS, LOT and JAL lounges plus the independent Swissport Lounge, the one spot on the Priority Pass network. Check your terminal before security, as the four buildings don't connect airside.

Airline status

Star Alliance lounges

Star Alliance Gold members and business-class passengers can use the United Club and United Polaris Lounge in Terminal 1, plus the LOT, JAL, SAS Business and Swissport lounges in Terminal 5. The Polaris Lounge is reserved for intercontinental premium flyers, so check the per-lounge rules.

Star Alliance
Airline status

oneworld lounges

oneworld Sapphire status or a qualifying business-class ticket opens American's Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge in Terminal 3, and the LOT and Swissport lounges in Terminal 5 also accept oneworld passengers. The Flagship Lounge is the higher premium tier.

SkyTeam lounges

SkyTeam Elite Plus status or a business- or first-class ticket reaches the Delta Sky Club and the SAS Lounge in Terminal 5. These serve SkyTeam premium passengers — confirm the lounge matches your departure terminal before you clear security.

The Swissport Lounge in Terminal 5 is the only ORD lounge on the Priority Pass network. It often runs at capacity, and Priority Pass walk-ins are sometimes turned away when it's full, so arrive early and have a backup plan.

Business & First class ticket

A business- or first-class ticket on the operating carrier (or an alliance partner) is the simplest route into that airline's O'Hare lounge — United Polaris and United Club, American Flagship and Admirals, or the Delta, SAS, LOT and JAL lounges in Terminal 5.

01

Match the terminal to your airline

  • O'Hare's lounges are airline-driven — United's are in Terminal 1, American's in Terminal 3, and the international carriers cluster in Terminal 5.
  • The four terminals don't connect airside, so pick a lounge in the terminal you're flying from before clearing security.
  • Terminals 1, 2 and 3 sit in the domestic core; Terminal 5 is the separate international building.
02

Priority Pass is thin here

  • The Swissport Lounge in Terminal 5 is the only Priority Pass option at ORD — there's no Priority Pass coverage in the domestic terminals.
  • Swissport often runs at capacity and can turn Priority Pass walk-ins away, so arrive early or have a backup.
  • If you don't have airline status, Terminal 5 is the terminal with the most independent option.
03

Know the premium tiers

  • United's Polaris Lounge is reserved for Polaris business and Star Alliance intercontinental premium flyers — United Club members need a business-class ticket to get in.
  • American's Flagship Lounge is a clear step above the Admirals Club, with a sit-down feel and better food.
  • If you're connecting, the nearest United Club to the Polaris Lounge is just steps away near Gate C10.
04

Timing and crowds

  • O'Hare is one of the world's busiest airports — lounges fill fast around the morning and late-afternoon departure banks.
  • Most lounges open early (around 04:30–05:00) for the first departures and close mid-to-late evening.
  • Terminal 5's airline lounges can track the flight schedule, so hours flex with international departures.

We track 11 lounges at Chicago O'Hare (ORD), spread across four terminals. Terminal 1 has the two United lounges, Terminal 3 has American's Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge, and the international Terminal 5 holds the Delta, SAS, LOT, JAL and Swissport lounges, plus there's a USO Center for service members.

Yes, but coverage is limited. The Swissport Lounge in international Terminal 5 is the only ORD lounge on the Priority Pass network. It often operates at capacity and Priority Pass walk-ins are sometimes turned away when it's full, so arrive early and have a backup plan.

Terminal 1 is United's hub and holds two United lounges: the United Polaris Lounge near Gate C18 for Polaris business and Star Alliance intercontinental premium passengers, and the United Club near Gate B18 for Star Alliance Gold members and business-class flyers.

Both American lounges are in Terminal 3, between gates H6 and K6 after security. The Admirals Club is the wider American membership lounge, and the Flagship Lounge is the premium tier for eligible oneworld and Flagship passengers, with a hot buffet, showers and runway views.

Yes. The United Polaris Lounge is in Terminal 1 near Gate C18 and is reserved for United Polaris business class and Star Alliance premium passengers on intercontinental flights. United Club members and Star Alliance Gold members don't have access unless they're ticketed in business class.

It's harder than at many airports. Most ORD lounges open on airline status or a premium-cabin ticket. Without status, the Swissport Lounge in Terminal 5 (on the Priority Pass network) is the main independent option, and a business- or first-class ticket is the simplest direct route.

No. O'Hare's terminals don't connect airside, and Terminal 5 is a separate international building from the domestic core (Terminals 1, 2 and 3). Choose a lounge in the terminal you're departing from before you clear security.

Yes. The Delta Sky Club is in Terminal 5, between gates M11 and M14. It serves SkyTeam Elite Plus status holders and business- or first-class passengers, with a hot buffet, showers and a business center.
