Freetown Lungi Airport Lounges

Lungi International Airport · Freetown, Sierra Leone

Lungi International (FNA) is Sierra Leone's main gateway, sitting across the estuary from Freetown itself. We track four lounges here, all small airline- and alliance-aligned spaces in the single passenger terminal. Each one is reached through frequent-flyer status or a premium-cabin ticket on SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld rather than a paid day pass.

Sobre FNA

Lungi International Airport (FNA) is Sierra Leone's main gateway, sitting across the estuary from Freetown city and reached from town by water-taxi, ferry or road. We track four lounges here, all in the airport's single passenger terminal. Rather than independent pay-in lounges, each is aligned to one airline alliance: the Sky Lounge for SkyTeam, the McLeod airport lounge and Blu Lounge for Star Alliance, and the Summa VIP Lounge for oneworld. That means the way in is your frequent-flyer status or a premium-cabin ticket on a partner carrier — none of the lounges are listed as selling a walk-in day pass. The lounges themselves are small and calm, with comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and a few drinks, free Wi-Fi and power at most seats. If you're flying long-haul out of Freetown, match the lounge to your airline and allow plenty of time for the transfer from the city.

Guia de terminais

Salas VIP de Lungi International Airport por terminal.

MAIN

Main Terminal

Lungi International runs from a single passenger terminal that handles all of Freetown's scheduled flights, most of them international long-haul connections to Europe, the Gulf and other West African capitals. All four lounges we track sit in this terminal — a mix of airside spaces past security and passport control. There are no separate domestic and international buildings, so the difference between the lounges is which alliance or airline you're travelling with rather than which terminal you're in.

  • Single passenger terminal handles all FNA flights
  • Each lounge is aligned to one alliance — SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld
  • Most lounges sit airside, after security and passport control
  • Access is by status or premium cabin, not a walk-in day pass
Guia de acesso

Como entrar nas salas VIP em FNA.

Lungi is an alliance-and-airline airport rather than a membership or pay-in one. Each of its four lounges is tied to a single alliance — SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld — so the way in is your frequent-flyer status or a premium-cabin ticket on a partner airline. None of the lounges here are listed as selling a walk-in day pass, so plan your access around your airline before you fly.

Airline status

SkyTeam status

SkyTeam Elite Plus members travelling on an eligible SkyTeam flight can use the Sky Lounge on the first floor by the departure gate. A business- or first-class ticket on a SkyTeam airline also gets you in.

Airline status

Star Alliance status

Star Alliance Gold members and business-class passengers on a Star Alliance carrier can use the McLeod airport lounge in the main terminal or the Blu Lounge airside. Both are the Star Alliance side of Lungi.

01

Match the lounge to your airline

  • Each Lungi lounge serves one alliance — SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld — so check which carrier you're flying before you pick a lounge.
  • There's no single lounge that takes everyone; your frequent-flyer status or premium-cabin ticket decides where you can go.
  • None of the FNA lounges are listed as selling a paid walk-in day pass, so status or a business-class fare is the way in.
02

Getting to and from Freetown

  • Lungi International sits across the estuary from Freetown city, so allow plenty of time for the water-taxi, ferry or road transfer on arrival and departure.
  • Build in a comfortable buffer before your flight — the crossing from the city to the airport can take longer than first-time visitors expect.
  • Once you're through to the terminal, the lounges are a calm place to regroup after the journey from town.
03

What to expect inside

  • The Lungi lounges are small and quiet rather than large or lavish — think comfortable seating, snacks and a few drinks rather than full restaurants.
  • Most offer complimentary soft drinks plus beer, wine and spirits; the Sky Lounge adds a TV room and a dedicated quiet area.
  • Wi-Fi is available across the lounges, with power at most seats — useful if you want to work or charge before a long-haul flight.
04

Timing and crowds

  • Lungi's schedule is built around long-haul departure banks, so the lounges fill up around the busiest flights and are quiet in between.
  • Arrive early if you want a seat in the quiet area of the Sky Lounge at a peak departure time.
  • Bring a travel adapter — outlet types can vary, and not every plug will fit without one.

We track four lounges at Lungi International (FNA): the Sky Lounge, the McLeod airport lounge, the Blu Lounge and the Summa VIP Lounge. All sit in the airport's single passenger terminal, and each is aligned to a different alliance.

The four lounges we track at Lungi are each tied to an airline alliance — SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld — rather than to a lounge membership programme. Access is by frequent-flyer status or a premium-cabin ticket, so check your airline's lounge access before you travel.

A business- or first-class ticket on a SkyTeam, Star Alliance or oneworld airline gets you into that alliance's lounge without separate status. None of the FNA lounges are listed as selling a walk-in day pass, so a premium-cabin fare or eligible status is the usual way in.

For most travellers the Sky Lounge is the most rounded, with a quiet area, a TV room, free Wi-Fi and a bar serving beer, wine and spirits. If you're flying oneworld, the Summa VIP Lounge is the airside option in the International Terminal.

Yes. Both the McLeod airport lounge in the main terminal and the Blu Lounge airside serve Star Alliance Gold members and business-class passengers on Star Alliance carriers.

Most of the lounges sit airside, past security and passport control — the Blu Lounge and the Summa VIP Lounge are both airside, and the Sky Lounge is on the first floor by the departure gate. Allow time to clear the checkpoints first.

Each lounge offers complimentary snacks and drinks rather than full meals. The Sky Lounge, Blu Lounge and Summa VIP Lounge include soft drinks plus beer, wine and spirits, while the McLeod lounge offers snacks with hot and cold beverages.

Lungi International is on the far side of the estuary from Freetown city, reached by water-taxi, ferry or road. Plan extra time for the transfer in both directions, as the crossing can take longer than first-time visitors expect.
