Priority Pass is accepted at the Aspire Lounge in Terminal 2 — the only Priority Pass lounge at San Diego. It's the simplest way in if you don't have airline status, with a buffet, bar and shower facilities airside.

The USO Center is open to U.S. Armed Forces active-duty, Reserve and Guard service members, plus their families. It isn't a paid or membership lounge — eligibility is based on military service, not a lounge programme.

Aspire is the all-rounder

• —The Aspire Lounge in Terminal 2 is the only San Diego lounge open to travellers without airline status — both DragonPass and Priority Pass get you in.
• —It's airside near gate 33, with a buffet, bar and shower facilities, so it works for most SAN departures regardless of carrier.
• —Aspire keeps daytime hours and caps stays at around three hours, so time your visit close to your flight.

• —If you're flying United or hold Star Alliance Gold, head for the United Club rather than paying for Aspire.
• —Delta flyers and SkyTeam Elite Plus members are covered at the Delta Sky Club.

Plan for a small field

• —San Diego has only a handful of lounges, so if Aspire is full at peak there's no independent backup — arrive early.
